I was walking down the street one day, and I had to stop. Because in my path were two colorful butterflies chasing each other in a circular motion. One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
One day after Adam Scott won The Masters using a broomstick putter, guess what I found from an online retailer in my inbox?!? I look forward to the continuum of the debate on whether or not such a putter should be banned from the PGA tour. I read up on it, and Tiger’s point of view, as recently as February, was that the putter should be the shortest club in the bag (and that includes belly putters). “I still think that it should be swung, it shouldn’t be anchored.” Now in the past, I didn’t base my opinion on what Tiger believes. I based my opinion on what I heard Johnny Miller say on the subject ~two years ago, “One day you’re gonna be able to go into a store and buy yourself a good golf game!”
After viewing yesterday’s Masters, in which Adam Scott used a broomstick putter and won his first major, I’m beginning to change my opinion. If such equipment is available, let whoever wants to use it use it. And if you can’t beat ‘em, then you are welcome to join ‘em! I guess Tiger doesn’t think it’s traditional. And if there is one thing that golf is, it’s traditional. [Because only in golf can you be disqualified for something that you did yesterday, (notwithstanding Roger Goodell’s NFL, but that’s a different post). No official caught it, but a fan called in about it. And btw, hey guy/gal if you’re reading this, I have two words for you: You’re Lame!] He may be right, they aren’t traditional and he can just be trying to preserve the great game that Jack, Arnold and Ben passed on. See, now I guess I’m back on the fence. Yet, I think there’s something more to it as to why Tiger feels the way he does about those putters. I don’t think he would look cool holding a broom stick putter. Yeah I said it! SO BAN THOSE THINGS!!!
So, someone at the Red Eye thinks that the Cubs have 99 Problems. IMO, the biggest one is Wrigley Field! Short of tearing it down, and rebuilding (which I am in favor of), $300 million in park renovations will have to suffice. Can’t Wait to see the outcome. But first we need Alderman Tom Tunney to quit hissy fitting and approve Tom Ricketts plan!
